Do you need to add Paypal/Credit Card images to your template? Need to add a link so visitors can bookmark your site? Or maybe you'd like to add sitemeter code to track how many visitors you have - all this can be done in the template area of your storeadmin where you can edit one of the system's default templates or your site's custom template. To start, click the "Template" link in the menu of your storeadmin. On the next page you'll see a listing of available templates in the drop down menu under the "Web Site Template" area. If it isn't already selected in the list, choose the template from the drop down, then click on the Customize button. ![]() Customize your Template![]() Once you click the "Customize" button your template's code will be moved to the editor window in the section labeled "Custom Template" . Once you move the template to the editing windowing you will NOT need to click the customize button again ( for future edits ) 1) This is a list of the site codes you can use in the template. They call in various things from your meta tags, view cart button, search box, catalog navigation to breadcrumbs and the email a friend link...they're all found in that link. 2) This where you would do any editing you need. Then click the Update button to save the changes. REMEMBER: Always make a backup of your template before making any changes so you have a copy to revert back to. Pasting your custom template into this editor window vs uploading it to the template directoryIt's always best to up upload your template to the template directory, and name it something other then index.htm because any template selected from the drop down window becomes the new index.htm when you choose to customize/edit it in the above window. So if you or your designer upload your newly designed custom template with the name index.htm OR only paste it into the Custom Template edir ( vs uploading it to the /template folder ), then for some reason you decide you want to test out one of the pre-installed templates and click to customize it - you've just overwritten your custom template...it's gone unless you happen to have a copy of it on your hard drive or your designer kept a copy. :( WARNING - DON'T NAME YOUR CUSTOM DESIGNED TEMPLATE "INDEX.HTM"
