Click the Toggle Guidelines/invisible Elements icon.

That will position your cursor in the top left corner. Hit the ENTER key on your keyboard a couple of times to move the table down, and allow you some space to add text above it.

You now have some space above the table to add your text to.

The text is now added above the table.
